SPOTLIGHT : THE GAME CHANGERS

One of my favorite Bible verses states, "To everything there is a season, and time to every purpose under heaven...", and for these three Hollywood actors, it seems as though their season is now. Meet (or get re-acquainted) with three actors who are making waves in 2013.

The New Kid On The Block: David Oyelowo

Born: April 1, 1976
Breakout Role: Lt. Joe "Lightening" Little ,Red Tails
In his short career in the U.S., this former theatre star  has already cultivated an impressive resume, with roles in films such as Rise of The Planet of The Apes, The Help, and Lincoln.  David can soon be seen playing Louis Gaines in the Lee Daniels' film The Butler, starring Oprah Winfrey, Forest Whitaker, Terrence Howard and Cuba Gooding, Jr.

The New Leading Man: Idris Elba

Born: September 6, 1972
Breakout Role: Russ "Stringer" Bell in HBO's critically acclaimed drama, The Wire

Proving his talents defy color lines, Idris starred as Heimdall, a God from the Norse mythology in Thor, took on aliens alongside Charlize Theron in the blockbuster Prometheus, and currently stars as DCI John Luther in the British television hit series Luther;these were all rolesoriginally intended for a white actor. Idris has three (yes you read that right THREE) films due out this year: Pacific Rim, Thor: The Dark World, and the highly anticipated Mandela biopic, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. Not only is Idris a hotly sought after actor, but he's also a musician/DJ and performs under the name Driis.

The Risk Taker: Chiwetel Ejiofor

Born: July 10, 1977
Breakout Role: Dirty Pretty Things

Surviving a car crash that took the life of his Father, Chiwetel Ejiofor adopted a sense of fearlessness that has lead him to be one of the most daring and compelling actors to watch. Whether he's commanding the stage in a Shakespearean play, or playing opposite Hollywood heavy hitters like Denzel Washington, the actor always makes sure his presence is known.  Chiwetel is one of the most diversified actors out there today and isn't afraid to push the boundaries in his roles, um Kinky Boots anyone? Ejiofor will be starring in the HBO film Phil Spector, Steve McQueen's drama 12 Years A Slave, with an impressive cast including Michael Fassbender, Brad Pitt, Paul Giamatti, Alfre Woodard, and Southern Beasts of Wild star Quvenzhane Wallis.

Looks like 2013 has a lot in store for these great actors and I for one couldn't be happier!
