SPOTLIGHT: THE LEGEND OF NGONG HILLS

Never in my life did I think an animated film could leave such an impression on me, but that's exactly what the short film, The Legend of Ngong Hills did.

Kwame Nyongo with his African Movies Academy Award
Showing at this year's eighth annual African Film Festival at Washington University, The Legend of Ngong Hills is a wonderfully charming  film from Kenyan animator/director, Kwame Nyongo.

Based on the traditional Maasai folktale, Ngong tells the story of an Ogre who has a penchant for attacking the Maasai village, while the villagers rally to find a way to stop him. Soon, the Ogre finds himself falling for a woman from the village.

This film has a lot of heart and teaches the importance of having the courage to stand up for yourself and what you believe in, regardless of what obstacles you may face.
