GET FAMILIAR: LETI GAMES

The video game industry is a  billion dollar juggernaut  and a global phenomenon  except for in Africa. There are major companies like EA who have a division in South Africa, but the amount of companies that are actually founded by Africans are slim to none. Fortunately, Leti Games is trying to change that.

Leti Games is one of the few gaming companies in Africa that is created by Africans which is why they continue to grow; they are making games that Africans can relate to. Founded in 2009, the Ghana-based gaming company has a singular focus: to make fun, innovative games that also challenge people. Africa is never the first thought people have when they think of game design, why the existence of Leti Games is amazing.

In 2009, they released their first game "iWarrior", where the player protects their village by battling crafty hyena and rhinos; the demo of the game can be seen in the clip below.  Leti Games isn't content with just "iWarrior", they are already in the beta stage of their new game called "Street Soccer". I hope this is the start of more African based video games being made.
