Shango, the African God of Thunder and Lightning, is worshiped by the Yoruba in West Africa. He was created from the union of two men: the physical manifestation of the god of reason Obtala, and Aganju, the god of fire. His godly lineage gives him great physical strength and the ability to conjure a lightning bolt at will.
Shango as he appears in DC Comics
Shango appears in both DC comics, where he is a part of the African pantheon of gods called the Orishas, as well as the Marvel Comics, where he is an ally to their god of thunder, Thor. Hmm an African with the body of a god ? When did I become a deity? I'm gonna go practice on my lightning now.
