FASHION FRIDAY: ALBER ELBAZ

Alber Elbaz

Today's post could almost be considered a Guess Who's African?, seeing as how most people don't  know that Lanvin head designer, Alber Elbaz, is actually African. Though he was raised in Israel, and even served in the Israeli Defense Forces, Alber was actually born in Casablanca, Morocco.

Elbaz has had quite a decorated--no pun intended-- career and has worked with famed fashion houses, such as,  Geoffrey Beene, Guy LaRoche, Yves Saint Laurent, and Lanvin, where he's been since 2001; he's been credited with bringing the fashion label back-to-life. 

Ellen Pompeo

What I enjoy most about his designs is his ability to make clothes that are feminine, practical, and a bit edgy. So many different types of women are able to wear his clothes. Stars like Ellen Pompeo, Jennifer Lopez, Oluchi Onweagba, and Tilda Swinton have all donned his designs on the red carpet.
