Ibrahim El-Salahi is an acclaimed Sudanese painter, who has been painting since the 1950's. Considered to be a pioneer of Sudanese art, he has developed a very interesting and unique art style, combining Arabic calligraphy and lines to produce striking pieces.
I really like the juxtaposition of the black and white that he uses oin hos art, it creates a very satisfying visual treat.

El-Salahi will have a showing at the Tate Modern museum in London this year. I hope that he will bring his art to California so that I can see it in person.
