GET FAMILIAR: ESOSA EDOSOMWAN



Actress. Writer. Director. Advocate. These are just a few words used to describe former model –turned-actress, Esosa Edosomwan. 

Esosa's unique and daring approach to film-making first garnered her attention as a writer/director, when famed Hollywood producer/director Joel Schumacher selected her as the winner of MTV-U's 2007 filmmaker competition, for her show"Meet or Delete". Since then, Esosa's career has been on the proverbial roll: her film "50 Bucks in Argentina," was an official selection in the 2011 Cannes Film Short Corner; a MTV-U Film of the Week; she won Best Short at the Nigerian Entertainment Film Festival; numerous television, film, and theatre credits; and being listed as one of the"30 Most Intriguing Africans in New York" by Applause Africa.







The multifaceted actress also dedicates her time raising awareness on violence against women. Through author/playwright Eve Ensler's the VDAY campaign, Esosa produced and performed in " A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant and A Prayer" back in 2011. Esosa is currently fundraising for her first feature, "One Night in Brooklyn" Earlier this year, she debuted her one-woman show, "Hatshepsut," which is based on the play written by Timothy Lawrence. It is about the first female pharaoh, and is part of the Actors Workshop of Ithaca Theater Company's season.
