AFRICOMIC: AYA



AYA is a graphic novel series created by Marguerite Abouet, an Ivory Coast native. The comic takes place in the Ivory Coast in 1978 and centers around 19 year-old, Aya, and her interactions with people. The subject material varies in tone,from chasing boys, to making life altering decisions, but the book always maintains a positive outlook on life.

AFRICAN MYTHOLOGY: SHANGO UNCHAINED




Shango, the African God of Thunder and Lightning, is worshiped by the Yoruba in West Africa. He was created from the union of two men: the physical manifestation of the god of reason Obtala, and Aganju, the god of fire. His godly lineage gives him great physical strength and the ability to conjure a lightning bolt at will.

GET FAMILIAR : BATWING


Batwing is a recent addition to the the legendary DC Comics.

David Zavimbe is an African hero who was born in the fictional city of Tinasha, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He was a child soldier that excelled in carrying out kill orders, but he soon grew tired of the life and escaped the army. He later becomes a police officer and fights the criminals that plague his city, as well as  corrupt policemen.

GUESS...WHO'S AFRICAN?

When you think of the word “Africa“ do you think of superheroes? The answer is most likely no, but you have heard of at least one African superhero, Ororo Munroe, but you probably know her better as "Storm". Making her first appearance in “Giant-Size X-Men “#1 in 1975, Storm was born in New York City to a Kenyan tribal princess and an American photographer. After the tragic death of her parents, an orphaned Storm wandered around the streets of Cairo until a chance meeting with Professor Charles Xavier led to her joining the X-men.
