Nothing says Summer like warm weather, beach days, and BBQ. I recently stumbled upon a fun and easy African take on traditional American BBQ, inspired by the lovely people of Botswana.
Prep Time: 5 mins
Cook Time: 25 mins
Ingredients:
BBQ -
- 4 good quality beef steaks (about 300g each)
- 2 Maggi cubes
- 4 tbsp soya oil (can substitute with canola or vegetable or olive oil)
- 2 tsp barbecue spice blend
- 4 tbsp sea salt
- 1 tbsp freshly-ground black pepper
- 1 tbsp paprika
- 2 tsp cayenne pepper
- 2 tsp dried oregano
- crumbled 2 tsp granulated garlic
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp ground alligator pepper (optional)
Directions:
- In a bowl, work together the oil, Maggi cubes and barbecue spices to a smooth paste
- Smear this mixture over the meat then set aside to marinate as you heat your barbecue
- When the barbecue is hot, add the meat and cook for about 10 minutes per side, or until done to your lining
Try this recipe at your next BBQ, and release your inner lean, mean grilling machine.
And don't forget to check in next month as I continue to cook my way through Africa!!!!
