The 2nd Annual African Film Festival, Film Africa, is in full effect. This ten-day festival offers 70 African films, Q&As with the filmmakers, professional workshops, and nine nights of African music.
Opening night featured the films: Nairobi Half Life, a collaboration from German director Tom Tykwer (Run Lola Run, The International) and rising Kenyan filmmaker David Tosh Gitonga; The Education of Auma Obama, a documentary on the Kenyan half-sister of President Obama; Call Me Kuchu, the award winning tribute to Ugandan gay activist David Kato; Sons of the Clouds, a powerful story about refugee camps after the colonization of Western Sahara, starring Academy-Award Winner Javier Bardem.
