So many African artists are doing such big things right now. As a fan, and fellow African, I am so proud and excited for them all. Here are a few that I am the most excited about.
1. Petite Noir is featured on, Saint Heron, the first album released from Solange Knowles' new label.
I am a HUGE fan of breakfast foods: omelettes, pancakes (preferably blueberry), waffles, cereal, french toast, hash browns, you name it. And I'm an even bigger fan of having breakfast for dinner. As an advocate for all things breakfast, I don't see why we have to limit ourselves to only eating breakfast food in the morning, right? So here you go my fellow foodies, an easy African twist on a popular breakfast dish courtesy of my friends from Cameroon.
First round of the playoffs are officially over. A few of our fave Africans are out (see full list here), but we still have some left so we're happy! Unfortunately, there are no longer any Los Angeles teams, so DJ & I are pretty upset and are in mourning. Take a look.
The playoffs are officially underway. Even though we're rooting for our LA teams, (Go Lakeshow! Clippernation!), we proudly rep and support all of the Africans that are in the playoffs.
Continuing with my month long female posts for Women's History Month, (read the previous weeks here andhere ), I thought this week I would share my favorite Afropop/soul artists, and what I believe is their best song.. Joakim Noah of the Chicago Bulls is African...yes, I'm just as surprised as you are. I was under the assumption that there was a one-African-per-NBA-team rule. Noah owes his African roots to his grandfather, Zacharie Noah, a Cameroonian football (soccer) player, who won the Coupe de France.
Besides the fact that he's African, and that he plays in the NBA, another reason I thoroughly enjoy Joakim Noah is because he is pure comedy. Don't believe me? Check out this snippet of the Chicago Bulls' starting center after a loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers:
